Transponder key programming
The part that makes a cut key actually start the car.
Since immobilisers became standard, a car key has had to prove its identity electronically as well as mechanically. Programming is what introduces a new key to the vehicle so it is accepted.
What we can program
- Transponder keys
- Remote central locking fobs
- Proximity and keyless-entry fobs on supported vehicles
- Additional spare keys
Coverage varies by manufacturer and model year. Give us the registration and we will tell you honestly whether it is something we can do at the roadside.
Key programming — common questions
Can you program a key I bought online?
Sometimes. Cheap unbranded fobs frequently fail to pair, so we cannot promise it — but we will try before charging for a new key.
